Pagá is the first new solo album from Kelly Willard in 17 years. The veteran praise & worship singer/songwriter was a featured soloist on over two dozen praise projects from Integrity, Vineyard Music and Maranatha! Music. She has sung duets and background vocals with artists such as Dion DiMucci, Lenny LeBlanc, the late Keith Green, Paul Clark, Twila Paris, Amy Grant, Michele(Pillar)Carlton, Ricky Skaggs, Paul Overstreet, Buddy Greene, Steve Green, Bob Bennett, Roby Duke, and more, in addition to cutting nine of her own solo projects.

Yet, there was a time when Kelly walked away from a vibrant ministry because of her commitment to family. “I couldn’t travel, be there for my marriage and children and be everything the public wanted me to be,” she explains. “I was being pulled in too many different directions.” Caring for her family included serving as caregiver for her mother, who suffered for ten years with Alzheimer’s. It was during this time that Kelly was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Then, in 2004, her entire life seemed to unravel. In less than one year, her 29 year marriage failed, both her parents died, and her teenage daughter, Haylie Grace Willard, who was suffering with severe depression, took her own life.

Many people would have given up after a year like that, but Kelly never did. Through it all, she never stopped writing songs. Not songs of bitterness, but songs about leaning into the loving hand of God and trusting Him for every need. Kelly explains, “Most of the songs on Pagá are either a desperate, heartfelt cry for closer communion with God, or a declaration of the truth about Him that I already believed deep within, similar to the many times when David, in the Psalms, cried out to the Lord for help with the challenges he was facing, only to end in a proclamation of Who he knew God to be.”

Named after the Hebrew word meaning sacrifice for the purpose of intercession, Pagá features songs of surrender and living by faith in the One who loves us more than we can fathom. Musically beautiful and spiritually powerful, Pagá is an album that will inspire listeners toward a deeper relationship with our Creator and Lord.
